Since we couldn't go to the Abrolhos this year due to work it is nice to remember last year: Abrolhos Islands Dreaming 2016

Abrolhos Islands April 2016

Linda and I had a very enjoyable three weeks in the Abrolhos Islands during April.  The highlights included stunning weather, ANZAC Day at Pigeon Island and some very tasty seafood caught and savoured.

Delayed departure

After much work and rework on the boat another recheck of work supposedly completed reveals 3 hours of additional work to fix leaking through transom fittings. Departure delayed 24 hours, weather less attractive but day in Freo lunch. Glass half full.

2 and 3 April 2016 at Rottnest Island

Having had to delay our trip to the Abrolhos Islands, due to work, we had some improvements done to the boat and decided to have a weekend at Rottnest Island.

Delightful Autumn Weather

The weather was perfect.

Initially planning to go to Stark Bay, the wind and swell was up a bit late Saturday afternoon (we were a little tardy getting away) so we diverted to Thompsons Bay.

Alegria on Mooring
Happy Twosome

Arriving at around 3:30 Linda and I couldn't find our authorised mooring so we took another and settled in for a pleasant weekend.

We went over to the Rotto Hotel in the dinghy and had one drink with a couple of nice people before returning to the boat for a bottle of Margaret River Shiraz and an eye fillet on the BBQ.

Isn't She Pretty?
Sunday weather was picture perfect, so we had a swim and a snorkel whereby Steve tried out the Go Pro's amazing under and over water capabilities.

Luckily the vision wasn't too bad as the headpiece holding the Go pro came loose during a dive.

When Steve felt for the off button, not only was there no off button there was no camera.  Luckily it was recovered but lesson learned about tethering.

The course back to FSC
We had the most delightful sail back to Freo, again, where we cleaned up and returned home for a nice dinner and a movie.

We had a couple of minor issues with a new engine temperature gauge and macerator but these couldn't detract from a beautiful couple of days.

Three Ports Cruise March 2016

Just two weeks after gallbladder surgery for Steve we enjoyed a terrific three days with the FSC Cruising Division sailing from Fremantle to Rockingham Cruising Yacht Club on day 1, to Hillarys Yacht Club and Marina on day 2 and back to Fremantle on day 3.

Fine warm weather and good breezes (gusts to 39 knots) made for a very enjoyable weekend.
